FEATURED WARDROBE STYLIST INTERVIEW
1. What does this collection say about your mindset when you were creating it?
You can create fashion through confusion. You can dare to be innovative.
2. Where do you most often find inspiration from? And when you lose it…what do u do to find it?
Arte, theater, cinema, exhibitions, video clips, street fashion. I never lose my inspiration. It is my whole life.
3. What is your favorite styled photo shoot? Why did it stand out to you?
I like my editorials to have a lifeless feeling. Out of this world. Like a picture that stood in time and has been destroyed by time. A goth glam look, edgy and timeless.
4. Why editorial, session work? So many say it’s a dead road… why did you continue to pursue this path?
It’s the only road to express real art.
5. While on set, how do you stay focused?
It’s not difficult. With lots of heavy electronic music and gallons of coffee I keep the concept of the editorial alive in my head all the time.
6. Share with us the most unexpected thing that has happened while on set, good or bad.
I really wanted to work with a supermodel who was in town and when she came and the shoot started it was a real disaster. We had no chemistry at all, I expected more of her that she couldn't give it and we were forced to change her at last minute.
7. Favorite quote or quotes you live by? And how do u apply them to your work? What is your personal mantra?
My motto is dare to wear and dare to create. Every moment every day you can create magic. Life will never be boring again if you think like that.
8. Is there anyone experience(s) in particular that you feel has made the biggest impact on your career?
Since I was very young I watched cinefile movies and I had a crash with Hitchcock’s films.
9. What do you believe is a common mistake within the industry? And what can others do to avoid being a cliché?
To copy cut what is hot / trendy / now / fashionable at this time. It immediately turns it to a cliché.
10. If you could go back to the beginning of your career, what piece of advice would you give your newbie self?
Sky is the limit!
11. Who is your biggest role model and why? What collection stands out in your mind?
Alexander mc Queen and his collection with the human bones.
12. Favorite adult beverage? Why…and when did u first have one?
I never drink alcohol, I don’t smoke, I don't do drugs. I have enjoyed sex from the tender age of 14 and that is my favorite adult beverage.

FEATURED DESIGNER INTERVIEW MIMI PROBER OF MIMI NEW YORK
1. High fashion is always changing. How do you stay fresh and inspired?
My work is not necessarily based upon a traditional fashion perspective; I create one-of-a-kind couture garments handcrafted from antique textiles. I approach the creation process as an artist with a canvas with the individual textiles, details, and unique stories that never fail to inspire.
2. What textures do love to work with?
The antique textiles that I use are the backbone of my design process; my philosophy integrates using these handmade textiles, dating from the late 18th century to early 20th centuries, as a way to capture the artistry of the past and establish a sustainable future. The handmade details include a one of a kind and irreplaceable history. Lace, intricate hand embroidery, and antique
beadwork are common textures found in my pieces.
3. What are your words of wisdom or advice that you have been given that has helped you most?
It it is important to always have a strong vision and do what you love and are passionate about; that passion will be recognized and embraced by others.
4. Anyone mentor you? And what was the most valuable lesson they taught you?
Mentors have been an important part of this unique process and serve as valuable inspiration; from the initial professors who encouraged my work in school, to those that have embraced the building of my brand - I have been lucky enough to be recognized and encouraged by industry professionals, as well as continuous love and support amongst family. The one resounding word
of wisdom among all? Keep creating!
5. How do you keep your style ahead of the game?
Not looking at style in terms of trends, but rather emotion and art. It is an intuitive process paired with an artistic outlook, and creating from there.
6. What have you learned of most value with your experiences as a designer?
It is important to have an identifiable individual aesthetic and vision, which is translated into the work that you create.
7. What's the design process like for you?
My design process is very different than the traditional approach; all of my pieces develop organically, based upon the antique textiles that are uncovered. The draping process is very important, as I am working with antique textiles, where each individual fragment is evaluated and applied. The process is similar to creating a fine art piece; like a sculptural composition directly on
the form.
8. Describe your personal style?
Dark – and art focused.
9. What sparked your passion for design?
Love of fine art, history, and integrating that into a wearable form.
10. How did you build your career? (Steps, milestones, etc.)
Building a career has been a labor of love and gradual process; building relationships, networking, and maintaining my commitment to my philosophy and aesthetic quality have all played an integral role in my development as a designer and atelier. I have had the honor of exhibiting my pieces in a New York City museum, showing during NYFW, and have been recognized both nationally and internationally through various publications and creative
editorial teams. I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from inspiring creative individuals who share the same passion – and connect with my vision. I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
11. What would readers find most surprising about you?
I love animals, especially cats, and have fostered and rescued many – although maybe that is not surprising to some. :)
12. Words to live by
Believe.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER INTERVIEW
1. What does this collection say about your mindset when you were creating it?
BLUE! I started the idea with denim in mind, but I don't want it to just be denim on denim, the usual diesel, gap type of images, so we play around with different textile to create the look.
2. Where do you most often find inspiration from? And when you lose it…what do u do to find it?
I can find inspiration anywhere, but when I must look for concepts I turn to pinterest and models.com for editorials and inspiration. I am pretty A.D.D. I have way to many hobby so I always lose it, but I always find it back when I look at other photographer or people thats simply doing amazing works, and it gets me really going and inspired again. TIPS: Always follow people that you look up too on social networks, this way you will see more amazing work and inspiration instead of junks.
3. What do you look for and lookout for… when putting together the perfect set team?
STYLE! What you see in their portfolio is what you usually get during the shoot. Different people have different aesthetic, make sure their work match closely to the concept. If you're doing high fashion, look for portfolio with great high fashion, if you are doing experimental beauty look for makeup artist that have great eye for color palette and amazing creative make up. This is especially true to choosing a team without prior experience of working together, but if you work with them before you can tell what their skill are, and what area they can and can't achieve, with that said test shoot is a great way to build team!
4. Why editorial, session work? So many say it’s a dead road… why did you continue to pursue this path?
ART! I work for different advertising agencies for various photography work, and that pays the bill in the end of the day. Editorial in a way is to break the rule, and expressing the way your aesthetic and view of the world. For an artist I always want to shoot personal work, and work that means more than money, editorial allow me to shoot things that's creatively challenging without the fear of having boundary in my work.
5. While on set, how do you stay focused?
Beer, coffee, clash of clans.
6. Share with us the most unexpected thing that has happened while on set, good or bad?
Location shooting is probably where all the unexpected happens, like accidently touching poop while on the ground getting the right angle, or I have a model almost fainted because the weather was super hot.
7. Favorite quote or quotes you live by? And how do u apply them to your work? What is your personal mantra?
Do the things you enjoy, if you don't then don't do it! Sometime I'm not inspired to do personal work, or worse I just crashed and burned from photographing too much, and it's good to suddenly just stop what you are doing and focus on other thing you enjoy. If you force it, you're probably end up hating yourself while working and you will be counterproductive and produce work that you will hate.
8. Is there anyone experience(s) in particular that you feel has made the biggest impact on your career?
Moving to LA, seeing things in different perspective. Will be moving to NYC early 2015, I think it will be my final destination where my work and style connects with the industry.
9. What do you believe is a common mistake within the industry? And what can others do to avoid being a cliché?
Social media whore! While it's great to have fans and follower, it most likely will not get you work. I seen people gone from 0 - 100 post a day because they desire the attention, and praises. This can be dangerous since you can be posting work that's not to the standard but still get applaud and praises. Know your follower and know who is your target market, it's better to have 100 art director following your work than having 100k of trollers.
10. Favorite adult beverage? Why…and when did u first have one?
Beer? Its because theres so much variation and style that you can try different one and never get bored . I think my first was when I was 10 but I never understand the complex taste until I started working for a project in San Diego where I learn from the beer loving people there about the variation and style where my taste bud grew to love it.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER INTERVIEW
1. What does this collection say about your mindset when you were creating it?
Honestly, this shoot was inspired by an incredible location that breathed hard work, dedication, and love.
2. Where do you most often find inspiration from? And when you lose it...what do u do to find it?
I look for inspiration everywhere, but I find most often in children's books, films, and illustrations. When I lose that motivation, I find it important to step away, breath, and allow myself to become inspired again organically. Forcing an idea never comes from an inspired place.
3. What do you look for and lookout for... when putting together the perfect set team?
I love my team! They are an incredibly talented group, but more importantly, they work just as hard as I do, and create an amazingly fun and exciting environment to work in.
4. Why editorial, session work? So many say it’s a dead road... why did you continue to pursue this path?
I wouldn't call it a dead road. It just doesn't pay the bills. It allows you to explore your artistic side in a way that commercial work just doesn't. I think that artists in other medias dream of having a medium to broadcast their work.
5. While on set, how do you stay focused?
I definitely DON't stay focused. But I think that's what helps me sort of derail from the script that I've written for myself. And I suppose that could sometimes end in a train wreck, but that's where having a great team - to help keep you on track - helps a lot.
6. Share with us the most unexpected thing that has happened while on set, good or bad.
My first ever studio was a rundown, old church from the 70's, previously occupied by a cult. In the middle of a massive shoot with 9 models, 4 makeup artists, and 2 stylists, the power suddenly shut off and we were in the pitch black. Two generators and a smoke-filled church later, we finally wrapped the shoot of one of my favourite series, "Chocolat."
7. Favorite quote or quotes you live by? And how do u apply them to your work? What is your personal mantra?
One of my very first mentors once told me "don't fall of the roof." There's a whole story that it comes from, but I can't remember it for the life of me. It basically reminds me on every shoot to expect the unexpected and to prepare for everything.
8. Is there anyone experience(s) in particular that you feel has made the biggest impact on your career?
I've had a lot of people impact my career. But only recently did I realize that you can't wait around for good things to happen. Figure out what you want and just attack.
9. What do you believe is a common mistake within the industry? And what can others do to avoid being a cliché?
I think its important to have a voice -- your own, distinct personality that comes across in your work. Try not to follow trends - study and understand them and find inspiration in them, but don't lose yourself in them. I also think that this is something that every artist struggles with every day of their career.
10. Favorite adult beverage? Why...and when did u first have one?
I grew up in a city where drinking is as much a part of the culture as breathing. But in recent years, I have to say I've grown to be a wine guy - something for my parents to be proud of.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER INTERVIEW
1. What does this collection say about your mindset when you were creating it?
I am very fortunate to have an extremely creative team around me, in Tracey and Justine. We all feed off one-another’s ideas and I think this concept came to us all very naturally. We wanted to capture a story of this particular flower and how it changes throughout the seasons. We are all very focused and ambitious individuals.
2. Where do you most often find inspiration from? And when you lose it...what do u do to find it?
Inspiration is all around us. There’s not a day that goes by where you don’t see something or meet someone that inspires you. I think if I lose sight of what direction I’m heading in, I look at the people closest to me; My team, my family, friends and also other great Photographers. I closely follow the works of Mert and Marcus and Mario Testino. Their work is very inspirational and capturing.
3. What do you look for and lookout for... when putting together the perfect set team?
When I set out on this journey, I knew that I had to find individuals that could help me in producing great work. I looked for ambitious and creative people that were skilled in their particular fields but also people that I could call friends, that I could count on. I believe I have found that it Tracey and Justine.
4. Why editorial, session work? So many say it’s a dead road... why did you continue to pursue this path?
It's a passion that's always with you, I have a flare for fashion and creativity and enjoy the challenge an editorial gives you. There are so many ways to view your work nowadays, with the internet so readily available, but creating a story and seeing the way its presented in a high fashion magazine, there is always something so special and majestic about that.
5. While on set, how do you stay focused?
I find it easy to stay focused on set because you don’t want to let your team down. You don’t want to be the weak element. It’s that pressure that makes me more committed than ever.
6. Share with us the most unexpected thing that has happened while on set, good or bad.
I was doing a shoot with a modelling agency based in Barbados. We were shooting on a rocky seascape on the east coast of the island and I decided to position the model on a rock in the surf, as I was looking to capture the motion of the sea. However, we were so focused on nailing this particular shot that we didn't see a massive incoming wave. My model was there one minute, gone the next. I threw my camera to my assistant and dived in after her. We eventually surfaced with plenty of cuts and bruises. The most unexpected thing is, we checked back over some of the images and we got some amazing shots so it was all worth it in the end.
7. Favourite quote or quotes you live by? And how do you apply them to your work? What is your personal mantra?
My favourite quote is “Survival of the fittest”. Nothing comes easy in life. You always have to work hard so prepare yourself in every possible way.
I always aim to try harder, to achieve greater things than before and to better myself in every aspect.
8. Is there any one experience(s) in particular that you feel has made the biggest impact on your career?
There are lots of experiences but I’d say it’s more to do with the people that I have met along the way. Obviously, Tracey and Justine have had a huge impact on my career and continue to shape the future. I'd really like to say thank you to Graham Edwards, the owner of Gadal Model Management in Barbados. He really gave me my first break when I was starting out and really set the ball rolling for me.
9. What do you believe is a common mistake within the industry? And what can others do to avoid being a cliché?
I think one of the most common mistakes, at all levels, is that each element that goes into creating an image can be easily overlooked. This is why I believe it is important to surround yourself with an amazing team, to make sure that every element of that image is perfect. This gives you the recipe for amazing work.
I think to avoid being cliché; you have to express yourself individually. You have to create a unique stamp on all of your work and keep being progressive.
10. Favourite adult beverage? Why...and when did u first have one?
(Laughs), I've got lots at 28 years old. I've had a few years to try lots of beverages but the one I drink the most of, and like the best, is rum and coke. It’s easy to drink and has that Caribbean kick. It reminds me of my family and home.
